Best anime of 2013? I think so. Anyone else watch it?
(No spoilers though, I stopped at episode 12, and I'm waiting for the anime to finish before marathoning the rest)
So I thought I would just put it out there that I like かわいい stuff!
Bonus points for a つんでれ!
(Yeah I'm weird like that, sorry)

If anyone out there also watches anime and uses myanimelist then add me: Proudmoore (http://myanimelist.net/profile/Proudmoore)
We can anime stalk each other and laugh at each others' tastes, or we could get recommendations from each other--either way works :P.

A Japanese person who I respect would be Gen Urobuchi. He wrote the script for many of my favorite animes (Fate/Zero, Madoka, Psycho-Pass, Phantom, and Suisei no Gargantia). I greatly admire his ability to tell a story of darkness and despair full of crushing realism despite many of his stories existing in fantasy realms. He always manages to evoke emotional responses, albeit sad and depressing ones, from me whenever I watch an anime that he wrote.
If you have a strong heart and mind, then I definitely recommend his works to you! Comedies and dramas are great entertainment, but the human soul needs a few tragedies to fully experience life. Not tragedy in the form of sadness, but rather tragedy in the form of despair.
I don't only like depressing things though! It's just that I think the best form of entertainment comes through the tragic fall of others and the subsequent emotional release from the viewers.

My name is Joshua Shu, and I am a freshman at the University of Notre Dame. I am a huge anime fan--a huge inspiration in my decision to take Japanese. My favorite anime shows are: Clannad, Steins Gate, Shinsekai Yori, Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, and Fate/Zero. In addition, I find Japanese culture extremely interesting. The merging of old traditions with new cultural movements results in Japanese cities being among the most interesting in the world. I hope to study abroad in Japan during my junior year, so I want to try my best this year in Japanese class to prepare for this event. One day I want to wear a yukata and eat some takoyaki!
I look forward to a great year with you all!
